Aston Martin kills DBX, long live the refreshed DBX707 with a redesigned cockpit

Introduced in 2020 on a dedicated architecture, the Aston Martin DBX five-door SUV has ended its career after failing to pursue the Bentley Bentayga, Lambo Urus, Rolls-Royce Cullinan, and other ultra-luxury high-performance crossover SUVs. No worries, though, as the top DBX707 model lives on – at least for a little while longer.

The latter has become the single powertrain option in the lineup after the retirement of the 542-hp version that was also equipped with the same Mercedes-AMG M177 twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine but tuned to 520 kW, 707 ps, or 697 horsepower and 900 Nm or 664 lb-ft of maximum torque. Mechanically, it remains the same, complete with the nine-speed wet clutch transmission and packing the stopping power of carbon ceramic brakes.

However, once deliveries kick off during the second quarter of the year, it will be adamantly clear that Aston’s DBX707 is not the same anymore – and that’s not just because of the minute changes in the chassis software calibration. Instead, the British automaker has opted to revamp the cabin for the model’s fast mid-cycle facelift.

So, although it was introduced in 2022, the Aston Martin DBX707 now has a “striking new interior design” along with the company’s “all-new infotainment system.” “With its best-in-class performance and dynamics, world-class design, and the highest levels of luxury, the DBX707 immediately established a new ultra-luxury SUV benchmark. Now upgraded with state-of-the-art technology and a completely new interior, the DBX707 moves the game on once more, further elevating the standard by which all competitors are judged,” explains Marco Mattiacci, Global Chief Brand and Commercial Officer of Aston Martin.

More precisely, the DBX707 has Aston Martin’s “state-of-the-art” in-house developed infotainment system – fully custom, multi-screen, and with features like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto plus multiple USB-C connections and full online connectivity mixed with the Aston Martin customer app. The information is displayed on a Pure Black touchscreen with capacitive multi-finger gesture control.

The instrument cluster is now larger by 1.5 inches, spreading out to 12.3 inches, and the new dashboard, along with the fresh center console, integrates the central 10.25-inch infotainment display screen. No worries, Aston Martin has noticed the aversion toward touch controls for various quick commands and keeps traditional options for gear selection, drive mode, heating and ventilation, suspension, ESP and exhaust, lane keep assist, and park distance control.

As seen in the DB12 and Vantage, the DBX707 is now an integral part of Aston Martin’s new style and philosophy for its cockpits and features a new steering wheel, redesigned D-pull door release handles, vertical air vents, larger door veneer panels in gloss smoked oak, gloss titanium mesh and updated ziricote wood, piano black, and carbon fiber.

Additionally, there are now three variants for interior trims: Inspire Comfort with matrix embroidery and quilting, Inspire Sport with vector embroidery, and Accelerate with Alcantara. More bespoke details include micro piping and sateen embroidery, while full personalization can be achieved through the brand’s bespoke service, Q by Aston Martin.

Last but not least, Aston Martin upgrades the audio system to the standard Premium Audio 800w 14 speakers or the optional Bowers & Wilkins 23-speaker, double amplified 1,600W surround sound system. On the outside, there are six new hues (Epsilon Black, Helios Yellow, Sprint Green, Malachite Green, and Aura Green, plus Podium Green from AMR23 Edition) and two new wheel designs.
